BASIC Nutrition Label Reading



Do you know what you are eating? Take a look at the nutrition label and answer the following questions.

-How many servings are in this item?
-How many calories are in one serving?

It is also important to look at the lists in green, blue, and yellow. Included in the green list are Fat, Cholesterol,and Sodium. These are items that need to be limited. Included in the blue list are Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium, and Iron.  These are good for you so make sure you get enough of these. The yellow list explain the percentage of the ingredient based on a 2,000 calorie daily diet.  

-Which item is higher than the recommended 20% per serving?

Knowing what is in your food  is very important.  Accurate information helps you make healthy choices for you and your family. 

Know what you are eating. Take the time to look at the Nutrition Label on your food.
